Diversity, Equality & Inclusion at CEPS

CEPS Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Committee (DEIC) was founded in January 2023. This internal committee is the natural continuation of CEPS Sustainable Diversity Goals (CEPS SDGs), launched in September 2020, with the support from the Open Society Foundation.

Our commitment

CEPS’ commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion is sustained by a growing set of internal and external policies. Each year, our DEI Committee (known inhouse as ‘DEIC’) drafts a comprehensive Action Plan comprising a number of action points and works closely with all colleagues across the organisation to implement them.

The DEIC Action Plan addresses human resources, funding, recruitment, research and publications, communication and events, training, monitoring and accountability.

75-80% of DEIC’s 2023-24 Action Plan was achieved and DEIC has now recently approved a new Plan for 2024-25.

CEPS is committed to fostering a culture of inclusion.

CEPS is committed to ensuring that management structures and processes serve our DEI engagements.

CEPS is committed to using diversity as a mean to enhance the quality and impact of CEPS’ work.

DEI in CEPS research and activities

CEPS has an established track record in conducting DEI-related research projects, publications, events and other activities.

Across all policy areas, these outputs address the multidimensional and intersecting DEI challenges that Europe faces. Internally, our editorial policies and events have worked to reinforce DEI awareness and integration in research and outreach.

CEPS also contributes to major DEI related projects, such as EUSOCIALCIT on the future of European social citizenship (2020-2024), ASILE on global asylum governance and the EU’s role (2019-2023), GI-NI on growing inequality and novel transformations research (2021-2023), and I-CLAIM on investigating the living and working conditions of irregularised migrant households in Europe.

spotlight on the ceps young thinkers intiative

Born in 2021, the CEPS Young Thinkers Initiative is a forum driven by and for young people from all over the world, not just Europe. We think it is vital to give the floor to young thinkers from diverse backgrounds, and this will be even more emphasised in the next round of the initiative in 2025. The Young Thinkers Initiative is designed to elevate voices, expand professional and leadership skills and empower young people to participate in crucial policy debates.
